I think the time right after getting back from vacation can be the most stressful. For me and Jony, we both had a ton of work to catch up on, Oliver decided to entice a few ticks, ants invaded the house, and the laundry was out of control! Needless to say I’ve been a bit overwhelmed these past few days.
I tend to be one of those people who can’t relax until everything is done. While it’s what helped me get through four years of college, it can be a never-ending process when owning my own business. That’s why I’ve had to retrain myself to take time out for just me. Even beyond time with my husband, my friends, my family (and Ollie!), it’s important for me to pull myself away and just breathe. I decided to bake a batch of banana bread muffins (recipe here), wash some cherries, make a cup of jasmine tea, and vegge out watching “Bethany Getting Married” (don’t judge me!).
So, my advice for you today is to take time out for you. Set aside time that you can do something you truly love, and make it a priority to maintain it. Obligations and responsibilities will only increase throughout your lifetime; your well being is affected by how well you balance it all.
How do you take time out for yourself? Do you have a hard time balancing work, play, and recuperating? Let me know!

Ahh, the memories! I always looked forward to when Annaliese made them; that and her amazing toffee squares. Great post, as always.
Getting swamped with my CPA studies, I always try to unwind with TV at the end of the day so that I can have a fresh start the next day. It’s hard, though, to balance that overwhelmed feeling when you have tons of work that need to be completed; having the balance to keep procrastination at bay and not going crazy from all the work.

Those look SO good! mmm may have to try the recipe.
I’m so bad at keeping on top of things, I have these days where every little thing gets done and I feel so productive and then other days nothing gets done and I just panic about what I have to do! I must find the balance.

Those muffins sounds delicious! I love making muffins and pumpkin bread but I haven’t made any in a while…
I know what you mean about the time when you come home from vacation being a mess. John and I both had jet lag (I might still have it) and I feel like I’ve been doing laundry for 4 days now!
