The past few weeks have been a little helter skelter due to the holidays, so instead of having a Friday Favorite I’ll be wrapping up my silk scarf looks today, and tomorrow post my Dress for Less of the week. The final installment of this series looks at three different ways to wear scarves around your waist. Personally I prefer this look on dresses and skirts (it seems a bit 90s-2000s on pants, except for perhaps the basic belt look).

Here I simply folded my scarf into a skinny rectangle and tied it in a double knot at the side of my waist. This is a nice way to add some layering and contrast to an otherwise basic skirt/shirt outfit (this lovely blue tulip skirt is from Urban Outfitters).
I’m bringing out my Asian half by tying my scarf in a style reminiscent of a Japanese Obi. Fold your scarf into a thick rectangle shape and lay it flat against your belly. If you are wearing a high waisted skirt, align the scarf with the top of your skirt. If not, place the scarf half on your belly and half on your skirt’s top. Tie it into a simple bow in the back. This look is super sweet, and very feminine.
This last look is best executed with a form fitting skirt or dress – you don’t want to create too much volume down below! Fold your scarf in half once, and then once again until the triangle point hits right below your hemline. Securely knot it at your side, and you’ve got a fun, colorful handkerchief skirt! (Oliver, my new pup, wanted to have a little cameo in this one
).
I hope you guys got some new ideas from this series on how to accessories with your silk scarves. It’s very easy to do, and can take any basic outfit and make it look super chic. Which one of these looks is your favorite? Would you try any of them out yourself? Are there any other scarf looks you would like me to attempt?
Happy New Year! xoxo
