Today I wanted to show you a nontoxic way to clean your glass windows, doors, and table tops. Ammonia (one of the main ingredients in commercial cleaners such as Windex) has been known to be toxic – while it may not hurt you instantly, over time it can lead to eye and lung damage. Here’s a quick remedy for dusty and soap scum-layered glass using my favorite product, white vinegar!
What you will need:
- White Vinegar
- Water
- Microfiber cloth
- Empty spray bottle (you can find these in the cleaning aisles of home supply stores)
In you spray bottle, mix 50:50 water and vinegar and give it a good shake. Spray the glass you want to clean liberally with the mixture, and wipe down with your cloth. I find that on glass the smell of vinegar is a bit more pervasive, so I went over the glass again with plain water. That’s all there is to safe (not to mention budget friendly) glass cleaning!
Try this easy solution out yourself! Enjoy!
Know of any commercial glass cleaners that don’t have ammonia? Any other useful green tricks when it comes to cleaning glass? Let me know!
