Style doesn’t end with clothes

Look from Dior Fall RTW 2010; Luca Cannonieri

One of my most, if not the most, favorite designers when it comes to the visage we see on the runway would have to be Christian Dior. They just know how to do a complete look, from hair to toes. I’m always especially inspired  by their cosmetic creations that, unlike many shows, can actually translate very well to the real world. When I saw photos from their Fall Ready to Wear show, I fell in love with the sweet, peachy looks that were a soft cry from their film noir ladies last season. I decided to try out the look myself, and found it perfect for spring/summer. Take a look:

I used a golden gel eyeshadow for my lids, a peachy orange hue for the crease, and a light pinkish color for under the brow. I layered a pink lipstick under a golden lip gloss. I used Nars Deep Throat blush, a nice soft pink color, and a brown eye liner (a better fit than black for this look) to create small wings on the outer crease of my eyelids. I topped it all off with Jurlique’s finishing powder to set the look.

I wholeheartedly believe that fashion doesn’t begin and end with clothes and accessories. Makeup and/or hair can transform your look and style completely, taking you from period to modern, soft to hard with a stroke of a brush.

What makeup looks are you coveting? Do you take the time out in your routine to experiment and play with makeup? How do you like the look I chose? Let me know!
