I admit, I’m still stuck on last month’s Elle. I’m a slow reader when it comes to my magazines…mostly because it takes me forever to find the actual articles within the ads
. Anyways, all that to say that I noticed a look from their Spring Beauty Guide that I was a bit unsure of. As seen at the Derek Lam and Dior Spring 2010 shows, multi-colored eyeshadow is taking this season by storm. I decided to give it a whirl before I passed too much judgement – here’s what I came up with:

I created a subtle version using the same color-scheme as the Derek Lam ladies: a greenish-blue shade for below the lash-line, a lavender purple for the lid, and a cheerful orange for the crease. Using an angled brush, I lightly dusted color in the three ares, flaring the orange and the aqua color out at the ends. As suggested by Elle, I paired it with a pinkish orange shade of lip color to complete the look. I have to say, I was a bit more pleased with the colorful palette than I thought!
So what do you say, is this a look that can be worn everyday, strictly at night, or absolutely never? Is this a look you would try? Do I look like I raided a clown’s makeup kit? Let me know!

I absolutely love this! It looks so fresh for spring, and I think it could work for daytime, like a weekend lunch date, or for going out at night. Very pretty!

Thanks Natasha! I agree, it’s pretty versatile depending on how pigmented you make it

Thanks Kelly! I was surprised that it turned out not looking very trampy. While I love MAC cosmetics, I’m not a fan of some of their employees’ looks, and was worried it would turn out like that.

hahaha No, you do NOT look like you raided a clown’s makeup bag.
I actually really like it. I think it depends on the individual’s eye lids. Since your eyes are slender and not too much of the crease shows, you can easily pull of this look because it’s subtle. However, on a gal with more noticible crease/lid, bold colors may come off too bold. I’ll have to try it before i knock it though.
Love the makeup and hair tutorials!!

It’s so true! I’d say for girl’s with more visible lids, definitely make sure to keep the third color solely in the crease so it’s not too much.

I really like it, I’d wear it in the day though and use darker colours to spice it up for night.

I really like the way you translated the look to make it appropriate for day-to-day wear. I can see this look during the day, although the colors would be a little toned down for work (at least the turquoise one…with maybe a soft pink or tan?). Definitely for night as well. I like using multiple colors–today I have brown eyeliner on top and gray on bottom. But yours looks much better

Thank you! I think the color-combo really decides whether or not it looks everyday classy or clubwear. I like the idea of two different liner colors, I’ll have to try that out!

Yes I do like the muli colored eye shadows. There are so many
color combos out there to try it’s just all dependant on the persons
skin and eye color. I do like the subtle look u went for and if you
wanted to go crazy contrast light pigments with dark. Fun look though.

I love the way it looks; but…I don’t think I’d have the patience to do it for everyday wear. For special occasions, though…definitely!!

Hahaha I feel ya girlfriend. Yesterday was a mascara, liner, blush day for me. After a little practice though, I bet we could get this look down to 3 minutes, tops!

seems kinda hard to do, but it def looks cute on you!
I think you interpretated it perfectly. I would say daytime with a lacy and flowy girly top and some boyfriend shorts, and then night time with maybe darker eyeliner and a floral dress?
