Whenever I thought of lace I would either picture matronly schoolmarmish outfits or over the top lingerie. Neither a category I’d say is suitable for everyday wear
. However, I have finally come around to accepting the romantic textile into my wardrobe, and let me tell ya, lace will make you feel good. In a modern cut, it is ultra-feminine with a bit of rogue Gothic (I’m talkin historical) aftertaste.
How I’m wearing it:
Cap sleeve DIY top
Urban outfitters wrap skirt (absolutely love the gold details and Asian-inspired print!)
Mootsie Tootsie peep-toe bow embellished kitten heels
Anthropologie rhinestone bracelet
Urban Outfitters rock and chain necklace (the natural elements really contrast well with the otherwise fairly tailored look, mmm!)
Today I’m heading over to a going away party for a couple of my friends. I’ll admit I’ve been feeling a bit down and out lately. Many of my companions are at that age where it’s time to start thinking about the next stage of life – having kids, moving for work or school, etc. It’s simply me being selfish, but I’ve become content with how things are and the growing pains haven’t been fun. Mais, c’est la vie! I just hate saying goodbyes…

Awesome job on that top, Maria! It looks really cute! i’m excited- I just found some scrap lace and now I know what to do with it
I remember being at that stage in life. It was very difficult for me. I moved to college, dropped out of college, and moved halfway across the country. I don’t think I’ve really stopped moving since then lol! My thoughts are with you. Deep breaths, and take it day by day=)

Maria you look so cute in your lace top. I love this outfit on you. And let me add that I know just how you feel about being at this stage in your life. All my friends got married and had children, but sometimes I felt as though they were racing to the finish line to do “the next expected thing”. I’m still not married, still don’t have any kids and still feel as though I have been true to myself. That’s the most important thing: be true to you.

Super cute! I love this look.
Growing pains and having to say good-byes always suck
I realized that all my friends are in different stages now at my wedding when 3 out of 4 bridesmaids came from out of state!

Oh yes, that is so true. Besides family, many of my girlfriends are people I rarely get to see throughout the year. But, it’s nice to be able to meet new people along the way

Eee I got what I wanted – Your hair in a high bun + seeing the top on. Love the skirt as well. This is one of my fave looks on you!
I wish more of my friends had settled down so we could have stayed closer friends.

It’s weird when you are all at different places in life, I’ve noticed a real split between couples and singles lately.
As for the look, anything for you
