Not too long ago, reader Leah mentioned that she loves a good trench coat, but wasn’t sure how to pair outfits with it. I wanted to take today to show you that you can wear just about anything with a trench. Heck you can even wear a horrific outfit and still look good if you’re wearing a great coat, just keep it buttoned up all day (actually nix that, I don’t encourage bad ensembles here)! So here are three different looks I put together with my H&M trench coat (love!) to serve as inspiration:
European Chic - Gap bow detailed top, byCorpus high waisted jeans, Jeffrey Campbell oxfords.
This is a classic trench coat look. I paired a slim cut jean with one of my favorite button down blouses. Throw on a pair of heels, a neck accessory, and you’re good to go! (Look at Oliver pose – he makes a momma proud).
Mais Oui - ModCloth floral print dress, Forever21 multiple strand necklace, Free People gold metal embellished flats
Bring out your sweet side by pairing your trench with a floral dress and some metallic flats. I paired this purple and yellow printed piece with a green necklace - all very complimentary colors (key: if the color combo appears in nature, then it’s a pretty safe bet to wear).
Wild Thing - H&M sequin embellished sweater, leather skirt, Urban Outfitters wedged boots.
Trench coats aren’t just for the traditionalists. Pair it with an edgy skirt, some lace-up boots, and add a touch of femininity with a soft top to mix the best of both worlds.

You are so beautiful Maria! These outfits are perfect, I love them!! I’ve been looking forward to buying myself a trench coat for awhile now. I’ve had my eye on this yellow and white broad striped one at Target for sometime now >.< Anways, I would wear mine with some high waisted shorts and a blouse in the summer.
