My husband gave me this great idea to go through his iPhone pictures and make a mini timeline of my style progression. He lovingly but very embarrassingly takes candid pictures of me all the time with his phone; for example, we’ll be walking in a store and he’ll randomly run in front of me and start clicking away. The good thing about it is he records a lot of outfits that I don’t think much about. It’s been fun looking over them and seeing how my tastes have evolved, even within a few years. Pardon the picture quality!
I loved wearing this mint blue color when I had my blonde hair. It’s a pretty universally pleasing shade. I still like this dress, but I wasn’t much of an accessorizer when I was younger, so the outfit’s a little bland.
I still wear and adore these plaid shoes! They’re a cute way to add a little interest to a casual outfit. A bit boring color scheme, but at least I was rocking a scarf in my hair!
Hahaha, I love how Asian this picture is – me representing my Honda! I’d wear these moccasins all the time, and I like how they give a pop of color to this outfit. Not sure about the double jeans going on though – although these are black washed, I think leggings would have looked better.
I can’t believe how different I look just two years ago! Neck scarves were all the rage and I definitely thought I was on top of things with my mom’s old vintage one. How very hipster of me…
Now I really like this outfit. It’s super simple, but sometimes a white dress is all that’s called for. Paired with a cropped jean jacket, do you think I beat D&G to their “western wear” looks?
Haha! My first pair of high waisted jeans! Worn with a crochet bolero and a ruffled shirt, I felt very Euro-chic that day. Perhaps not the best look for my body at the time though – it’s all about how it compliments your shape, not so much the trends!
Here’s another example of an uncomplimentary shape. I thought with the jacket it would give this outfit some definition, but this bubble cut tunic length top does nothing for my torso, especially paired with this pencil skirt. I’m getting a very odd Christmas tree profile. Love the inclusion of some color though!
Ah, my bridal shower. This is a much more recent picture of me, and I definitely like this look better than the others. This is probably one of my favorite dresses right now because of the full bubble skirt bottom and the pretty rose print. I felt like a modern Alice in wonderland, perfect for a tea party!
On my honeymoon! Wearing that favorite white dress of mine (I rarely get rid of clothes, and I have a great wardrobe because of it! Stick to classic looking pieces and they can work for a long time), and it was all about the Goldie Hawn shades. Now if only I still had that tan…
The second day after going back to brunette. It’s already faded quite a bit from this super dark shade, and I have to say I kind of miss it! I definitely felt pretty mysterious/sexy with it this dark. I think this color of blue looks really great with dark hair as well; it really pops against the black leather leggings.
Bringing home Oliver! This is definitely a grungy look for me, but I’m happy I’m no longer afraid of color!
Well, hopefully that gives you a little more insight of my fashion evolution. I definitely have come a long way in two years, and I hope to continue refining and growing in my tastes. I’ve learned that taking risks is the best way to learn what looks good on you, and I encourage you all to not play it safe! Enjoy!

It’s so true! I think it’s good to somewhat keep track of your progress over the years in any area – it’s a huge encouragement to see how much things have changed when it doesn’t feel like it has at all.
+ Thank you so much! I always can use the encouragement and hear from other people on how I’m doing.
I love your blog as well, I wish I took better care of my nails. Do you know where to buy OPI at a really good price?

This is such a cute idea! I’m a little afraid of what I might find if I go back through my photos…haha. I am not very adventurous with my clothing choices, but one of my resolution for 2010 is to amp it up a bit.
I love white dresses and yours is too cute!

I agree with your resolution though, I’m trying to take more risks this year.
