Generally I’m not a huge fan of female vocalists. I tend to get bored quickly with their music unless they are extremely talented or have some grit in their voice. So for me to like Lykke Li is a big enough deal (to me anyways) that I thought I’d share her with you all. She’s a Swedish, indie singer who comes from a background of artists. Her debut album, Youth Novels, was released in 2008 and you can hear her on the New Moon soundtrack (while you may not like the movie, the soundtrack is pretty darn good. Lykke Li wrote the song Possibilities for the movie after seeing a pre-screening). She has worked with Peter Bjorn and John, Lasse Marten, Kings of Leon, and believe it or not, Kanye West.
Not only is she a great singer, but she’s also stylish and cute as heck (as almost all Swedes seem to be):
I’ve included my Playlist.com playlist of some of my favorite songs of her’s for you to check out:
Do you like Lykke Li? What is your favorite song of her’s? Can you recommend anyone else I should check out? Enjoy!

ah maria, you have a good ear… I’ve never heard of this artist before, but I’m really digging her songs(particularly #1). I remember you posted a couple songs from Mgmt and Santogold a couple years back. Both of those were on the “Artists to watch” for 2008. Have you heard of the group, Black Kids? I discovered them when I saw that list. So, I was watching some Ugly Betty this morning and they had a song from La roux(Bulletproof). The songs is kinda weird. Good weird though. It was pretty good

I have heard of them, but never listened to their songs! (I remember thinking what an odd name hahaha). I will definitely check them out. I think you just described my ideal music – good weird. I’m glad you appreciate my taste, I think I’ll continue sharing different artists I love.

After going through the album, #5 is my favorite song from her. It kind of reminds of iron butterfly.
