Friday Faves: Lipstick and jams

March 26th, 201010:00 am @

Today I couldn’t choose just one Friday Fave (yes, I’m one of those people who took forever picking a favorite movie, book, song, etc. for those silly ice breakers we had to do in school…I hated those…). So instead I want to divulge to you all one of my favorite lip colors right now, as well as one of my absolute favorite bands. What they both have in common is their uncanny ability to signal the coming of spring – it’s warm sunshine on exposed skin, the tickle of air saturated with pollen, and the slowing down of time. Here we go:

The Pink Lipstick

Wearing CoverGirl's Parisian Pink

A few weeks ago I read a forum thread on favorite lipstick brands. Someone had mentioned that CoverGirl’s Continuous Color was both moisturizing and long lasting, something I’ve been trying to find. While I have been a higher-end lipstick user for some time now, I decided to give it a try. I choose the color Parisian Pink, a very vibrant, pigmented pink. I LOVE the way it really pops, but not in a tacky, Barbie kind of way. It’s a color that would look great on most skin tones, and at a $1.99 on Amazon it’s an amazing deal.

The Sub Pop Band

Band of Horses

Band of Horses is one of those groups that gets under your skin, in a good way. They have a melancholic/upbeat sound, sarcastic lyrics, and a ton of facial hair. Did I mention they are a part of the reverb (sustainability) scene? If you are lucky enough to live on the east coast or in the midwest, look out for them opening for Pearl Jam (*drools*) starting early May of this year. You can purchase their music here. Check out some of their songs below:

Are you loving spring’s bright pink lipsticks? High end vs drugstore brand, where do you stand? How are you liking Band of Horses: long-time bandaid or newly joined fan? Have any suggestions of either you’d like to share? Let me know!
