The first post of a blog is very intimidating. Where do I even begin? One would prefer to convey herself in the best possible light by appearing both intelligent and interesting. But at the same time, the need to stay true to oneself is overpowering, which may or may not be all that endearing. So rather than start with who I am, let’s just jump in to the purpose of my soon to be daily ramblings:
I am beginning this blog for selfish reasons – first, to capture beautiful pieces of fashion in an online collage of sorts for myself, and two to promote myself and my store as “very stylish ‘conscious’ girls.” In the next few months I will be launching an online retail store I have obscurely named “Bachman’s Sparrow.” That is, it is obscure if you have no idea who Bachman is (whom most will not), and the message I believe he stands for. Reverend Bachman was a naturalist in the late 1800s. In particular, he loved birds. The Bachman Warbler and Bachman Sparrow are both named after this Lutheran minister, and are now either certainly or quite nearly extinct due to environment destruction. I chose the sparrow for my name because of its resilience and often flourishing adaptability to survive in the development of manmade structures.
Similarly, my boutique will provide alternative answers to the growing concerns of environmental destruction and consumer consciousness. All our products will be made either with organic materials or made to order, eliminating huge amounts of waste mass produced items culminate, offering more sustainable products, and reducing our carbon footprints. Not to mention that each hand-made item is unique, allowing you to stand out from the crowd.
This blog will be an outlet for store updates, tips on how to be fashionably green, discoveries, and life ramblings in general. I hope it provides you will valuable information and a few good chuckles from time to time.
