Every now and then I just get an urge to wear all black. I think it’s sort of like a superhero mentality; your putting on a disguise that feels mysterious, powerful, sophisticated, and a little bit dangerous. It’s an outfit you can’t wear all the time though, or it loses it’s mystique.

Honestly, wearing all black can be a tad boring. In order to make it look chic and not lazy, layer different pieces varying in texture, hue, and prints. Here I paired my black blazer from Target, Urban Outfitters 3/4 black top with stud detailing, BDG faded black pants, peep toe lace up boots, and a black knit beanie.
I love the wedged heel on these boots. Wedges are definitely in right now, and it doesn’t hurt that they make walking in heels much more bearable.
I also play around with my makeup because all black works as a great blank canvas. Here I’m wearing a deep green color on my lids and a peachy pink on my lips. (Okay, so that really isn’t much of a risk-taking face, but I’m getting there!).

I LOVE the black on black combo, but I can never pull it off, for fear of clashing shades of black (it’s one of my pet peeves, really). How do you get around that issue?

Hmm, by clashing do you mean they aren’t all the same shade of black? I don’t mind that so much (my pants are pretty faded and look almost blue in these pictures), and I think that it can add dimension to the outfit. If you’re still concerned, just keep experimenting with pieces until you feel comfortable. Does this help?

I’m with Mars – I love neutrals, especially black.
LOVE those boots.
A *little* safe – maybe add layers of chain necklaces. That’s just my style though.

I really like this! But I thought your jeans were blue? I kind of like it better with blue jeans then their intentional black color but that’s just me. Yes I think an all black outfit is boring, but from my experience, you receive quite a reaction from people when wearing all black if you normally wear color. I coincidentally planed to wear all black tomorrow before reading your post! It’s a black and pink outfit and you’ll see it tomorrow! LOVE YOU!

They are pretty faded and I took this picture late in the day, so my darn camera kept picking up a weird blue color! They’re more black with grey fading in real life. I’m looking forward to seeing your outfit!!
