A Helping Hand: I dream of jeans.

Today I am following up from yesterday’s post on finding the perfect jean. Though no easy feat, once accomplished it can change the whole look of one’s body without needing any major intervention (hallelujah!). Non-curvy girls and hourglass figures stay tuned, today it’s your turn for some jean remedies.

For women who are curvy overall, or hourglass shaped: these are you lucky ones out there who are proportionately curvy on top and bottom. You want to avoid ultra low rise jeans, which will cause even the littlest bit of weight to fill over the top. Some of you will have similar issues with the pear shaped ladies where your pants may fit in the hips, but not at the waist. Once again I advise you to take a few pair of jeans into the tailor’s to have them fit to your specific measurements. Straight legged jeans look great on you; try a pair with a strong crease in the front for a sharp look. You can get away with skinny jeans which will emphasize your curves, but make sure (as previously mentioned) not to get too low of a rise.

For women who are stringbeans (like me!): Those of us who lack curves such as myself can get away with bleaching or whiskering, and pockets with flaps or large buttons, which helps create the appearance of shapely hips. Boy cut pants (avoid any that look like you are swimming in them), low-rise (this highlights any curves), skinny jeans (also, highlights any curves), and straight legs are great on you.

Finally, tall vs. short: Tall gals can get away with cuffs and capris; short girls beware these will make you look stumpy. If you’re short and you love a capri, find a pair that fits snugly all the way down. Now go out there and find some denim love!
