MV: Tell us a bit about yourself! How old are you, where are you from, favorite band, food, and pass time?
TF: My name is Alexander, and for the past 8 months, I’ve been known to the public as The Fashionista. I currently live in Oslo, where I also study finance at the Norwegian School of Management. My favorite band is A-ha, but they’re sadly going separate ways after their last concert in December. I’m a food lover, but one dish?! Hmm, I do love me some lamb… maybe in a curry? Ohh, and favorite past time leisure, alongside being with my fiancee, is blogging.
MV: Lamb has definitely been on my radar lately. Congrats on being engaged! So, when did you start blogging, and why?
TF: I started blogging in early October 2009. I’ve blogged at several occasions before, but nothing as serious as this. The reason why I started was really because I felt all the other “big” fashion blogs were just humbug. For instance, this one blogger, he had so much success, so many sponsors, and 80% of his published blogs were about him travelling, showing off those bad seats on Delta business and what not.
I decided I wanted to provide something that my readers would really enjoy, and that they would see themselves in. I also decided I needed a niche, we all know that there’s a few fashion blogs out there. Today, I publish interviews with famous fashion personalities, such as the designer Adam Lippes, or famous blogger James Andrew. In addition to letting me meet all these great people, it has opened a lot of doors for me.
MV: That sounds amazing! So, what can we expect to see when we stop by your blog?
TF: I’ve set my focus to three things: fashion, art and photography. Within those three categories, I have a lot of artistic freedom, in that sense that I can interview anyone within the fashion sphere, because fashion really is all about art and photography as well.
I also write a lot about style, I cover fashion week and I might even start throwing in some street fashion.
MV: I would love to see Norwegian street fashion on your blog. Wrapping up our interview, what is one tip you would leave other bloggers?
TF: I think the one most important tip, is to know your readers. Without the readers, a blog is nothing. When you understand what the readers do for you, and how they can make you walk that extra mile, you’re successful in my eyes.
