Special Interview with Style She Wrote

May 10th, 20109:42 am @

My second blog interview is with the lovely ladies from Style She Wrote. Collectors of beautiful images and information, the girls share their fashion-know-all in a way that inspires you to revamp your look! Their bio reads:

Jackie and Lynnie

Native New Yorkers, Jackie and Lynnie (Laura and Crista, respectively), not only share the same DNA; they also share a strong interest in fashion, design, and pop culture trends. The pen-names were borrowed from a childhood game the girls would play – “The Adventures of Jackie and Lynnie”. As Jackie and Lynnie, toddlers Laura and Crista would explore their home and its natural surroundings as a team, and use their imaginations to go on adventures. Eventually, the alter-egos stuck. As they grew older, whenever they would do things together, family and close friends would refer to them as playing “Jackie and Lynnie.” When Laura and Crista decided to launch Style, She Wrote in 2008, they chose to use these fictional names to pay homage to their roots, and their beginnings as a duo.”

Now check out the interview:

MV: Tell us a bit about yourselves! How old are you, where are you from, favorite band, food, and pass time?

Laura "Jackie"

J: I’m twenty-four years young, and was born and raised in New York.  (I currently reside in Philadelphia).  My all-time favorite band is Pearl Jam; I saw them last year in Philadelphia and it was amazing experience. I love anything smothered in basil pesto sauce, and I my pastimes include writing (not only for the blog but also as a freelancer), thrifting with “Lynnie” or my boyfriend, and reading about all things costume and textiles related.

Crista "Lynnie"

L: I’m twenty-two years old, and was born in raised in New York where I currently reside. My favorite band depends on my mood (although I’ve been recently obsessed with Taylor Swift). I’ve always been a breakfast kind of girl so I naturally adore pancakes.  My pastimes include writing, crafting (jewelry boxes mostly), exploring neighboring parks with my beau, Michael, and perusing racks for great buys with “Jackie”.

MV: When did you start blogging, and why?

J: “Lynnie” and I started our blog in July 2008.  At the time, I was attending graduate school and working in New York City, and she was in college in New York’s suburbs.  Our reasons for starting the blog were a bit selfish — we wanted to spend time with each other!  The blog became a way for us to constantly interact despite our busy schedules.

We’d take turns posting and would bounce our ideas off one another; we still do.

MV: What can people expect to find at your blog? What do you tend to focus on?

J: “Style, She Wrote” readers can expect to find the latest in fashion news for real people.  (No pretentious postings on the “affordability” of a $1,000 bag here).  We make fashion easy to follow — and easy to own!

MV: What is one tip you have for bloggers?

J: My one tip for bloggers is to have fun with their websites.  It can be so fulfilling. We love writing, as well as interacting with readers and other bloggers from around the world. It really allows you to expand your horizons and grow as a person.

L: Etsy.com is a great place to purchase some unique items (ranging from clothes to photographs to jewelry) AND to gain new readers. Visit the “Community” area and click on “Forums”. Under the “Promotions” thread you can post a blurb about your blog. Visit other threads and sellers and leave comments! I guarantee new readers will find their way to you and your blog.
