Special Interview with Meowsk

May 24th, 201010:00 am @

Shauna from Meowsk has become one of what I like to call my Obbies – online buddy (lol cheesy I know). I’ve featured her in a few guests posts, totally enjoy her photography, and have come to respect her eye for all things pretty. She’s been someone who has supported me, which I really appreciate it, and is just an all-around sweet person. Check out her interview and make sure to stop by her site to share some love!

MV: Tell us a bit about yourself! How old are you, where are you from, favorite band, food, and pass time?

M: I am a 26-year old web designer living in Salt Lake City, UT with my husband, Andrew whom I adore and our Siam-Tabs cat, Lucy. I listen to all types of music but my favorite band of all time is Belle & Sebastian. My food of choice is sushi although I am also partial to burritos and curry. I am a lover of cats, film connoisseur, fashion addict and almost artist.

MV: When did you start blogging, and why?

M: I started my blog in January 2010 because I had been reading a lot of blogs and wanted to create my own little corner of the internet. Plus, what kind of web designer would I be without my own website? So I decided to start this website as a creative outlet free from the tyranny of client feedback and overdone art direction.

MV: What can people expect to find at your blog? What do you tend to focus on?

M: My blog is meant to chronicle my experiences through photographs and is my way of collecting the moments. I always feel like I am talking about the weather but it greatly affects my life and day to day activities. The focus of my blog centers around everything visual – whether it be the outfit I am wearing, where Lucy is sleeping or something that just inspires me.

Watercolors and bubbling brooks

MV: How did you get started in photography? What is one tip you have for people who would like to improve their photography skills?

My interest in photography really started on my honeymoon to Hawaii, where my husband taught me some basic skills and my eyes were opened up to a whole new world of possibilities. About a year later I received a DSLR for my birthday and ever since I was officially addicted. For apiring photographers I cannot emphasize experimentation and practice enough – with digital you aren’t as limited to the number of photos you can take so take tons of photos.

MV: What is one tip you have for bloggers?

M: Quality over quantity – while blogging used to be all about page views and posting every day to generate traffic. The blogging world is evolving and the quality of of your content matters far more than how often you are posting.
