I see you everywhere

a tale of two sisters

One of my favorite books I read this summer was Julia Glass’ (author of Three Junes) I See You Everywhere. The tale is written from the perspective of two sisters, both completely different and yet in the end so alike. This fictional novel delves into the all so real relationship between sisters – the competitive tensions, the emotional and physical closeness and distance we struggle with, love and forgiveness. Louisa, the older, cautious, seemingly emotionally led writer is juxtaposed with Clem, her adventurous animal science sister who lives carefree, unattached, and with a new job and man every season. We are given glimpses of their lives from childhood to adults, seeing both points of view on their tragedies and joys. It soon becomes not only a story about sisterhood, but of forging one’s own identity, of discovering nothing is as straightforward as we imagined, and of overcoming those things that would tear us apart. I highly recommend reading this book, even if you are not a sister! It’s beautifully written though I will warn you a bit sad.

What are you currently reading? What books have stirred you? Are you a part of any book clubs (I would love to start one personally)? Let me know!
