Jaime, from the fabulous blog, La Vie…J’aime (@laviejaime), and I are swapping posts this week! Her blog is full of highlighting beautiful things and personal anecdotes. Today she’s showing us how to get some of the lovely red carpet looks translated into the “real world” at amazing prices. Check it out!

Hollywood’s favorite leading ladies strutted the red carpet on Sunday’s 82nd Annual Academy Awards. I don’t know about you, but I get more excited about the two hours of red carpet arrivals than seeing the actual show! Watching the hits and misses as they arrive and oogling over couture gowns, while celebs get interviewed live, what’s not to love?
Some clear trends stood out- as they do each year- and 2010 brought the best in blush tones, cobalt hues, and shimmery sequins. While Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta, Armani, and the like do these trends oh-so-well for celebs, the real way looks, at an affordable price, are easy to find at your local mall or online.
Get inspired by Demi, Anna, Miley, Gabourey, Mo’nique, Mariah, Cameron, Sandra, and Amanda with these dresses for less.

As for beauty? Pink lips and radiant skin ruled. I already know I will be using my DuWop gloss in Wisteria and Benefit High Beam luminzer come spring.

What were your favorite looks from the red carpet? Which ones would you love to emulate? I would say my top two were Carrey Mulligan’s metallic encrusted black gown and Kate Winslet simple, elegant old Hollywood vision. Enjoy!

I agree, Rachel’s dress was like a watercolor painting come to life!

As much as I am incapable of resisting shimmering hues, and cannot get enough of cobalt colors, I am obsessed with blush and nude tones. In my mind there is nothing more feminine, flirty, or fabulous! Gorgeous post, Jaime!!

Agreed! I have to say on TV I felt that Demi looked too washed out in her dress, but in pictures it’s a lot more flattering than I thought.
