Say what you may about Whitney Thomspon’s win on America’s Next Top Model, but I thought it was nice seeing a “plus sized” girl win. And despite many of her critics’ claims of there being no work for a plus sized model, Whitney seems to be doing just fine. In fact, Forever21’s plus sized line, Faith21, booked Whitney for a western set photoshoot. So this week I wanted to feature Whitney for my dress for less special. The great thing about using her Faith21 shoot is everything is already totally affordable (you can get the same styles in non-plus sizes as well)!

While I could not find all the exact clothing matches online from the shoot, I think I found some pretty cute alternatives. Here I placed the skirt and leather jacket ($19.80 and $37.80) with a graphic tee ($19.80) and tights ($5.80) to give it some visual dimension. Add some bling such as this leatherette headband ($2.50) and chain necklace ($10.80), and some tough ankle wrap sandals ($27.80), and you’ve got an outfit that looks great on most body sizes!
Here a few more pictures from the shoot that I loved:
Enjoy!

She doesn’t look THAT big, but she doesn’t look fit at all. If you’re gonna be a plus size model, I’d at least like you to be at your physical peak and not look sloppy. No matter what your jean size, you can work on muscle tone and being healthy, and I don’t think she does.
I was gonna (and still may) post about Nicole (from last season) getting a gig with Alexander McQueen!
ANTM is SO my guilty pleasure, so I love to read anything about it, even the girls I didn’t like so much.

I hear ya. I wasn’t a fan of her personality much, either. I used to watch whole seasons on youtube while I’d sew, but I think I got tired of Tyra’s absurdities. I have to find the season of short girls though, do you know which number that was?

I worked with Whitney recently, and I thought she was a wonderful example of a gorgeous woman who is a “plus size” model. I hope this campaign helps her to further inspire young women to be fabulous!
The short girls was this most recent season – maybe 13?

That’s awesome! Any particular campaign we should keep an eye out for?
Oh good, I’ll have to see if it’s up on YouTube…
