Fare thee well Charlotte

Thanksgiving makes me think of pies, and pies make me think of the Pie Maker, which of course makes me think of Pushing Daisies. The show may be gone and off the air, but the brightly colored cinematography and wonderfully retro clothing will not be forgotten. In particular, Charlotte (better known as Chuck) Charles’ wardrobe always left me longing for more. She successfully pulled off looking like a starlet from another decade without seeming out of place in the 21st century. So, this Star Saturday we turn to her Pushing Daisies promo outfit to recreate:

Charlotte Charles

What I love about this outfit is how feminine and sweet it is, but still maintains some fashion forward elements in the voluminous structure. This piece can also go from summer to fall easily by layering it with a cardigan and adding some opaque tights. Here’s how you can pull this look off for less:

Floral Dress from eBay $10

Urban Outfitters Pumps $48

Urban Outfitters Cardigan $42

Look for floral dresses that have interesting structural elements to avoid looking too sweet and a bit boring. This is a great look for a lunch date or a holiday family dinner.

Ned, played by the affable Lee Pace (check out Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day), also possesses impeccable style, from skinny ties and black suites, to laid back tees and fitted jeans. He has a European flair meets America ease when it comes to dressing, and can pull off a scarf/sweater combo without looking cheesy.

Layering different textures is the key to this outfit. Enjoy!
