Another question posted by Adam concerns men’s suit trends. In response, I’ve found some pictures from Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, and Armani’s Fall 2009 Ready To Wear runways to give you some inspiration. My biggest tip would be not to go with what is currently trendy when investing in a suit, but choosing classic cuts and basic fabrics while having more fun with your dress shirt and vests. The ideal suit cut would be broad shoulders with a slim waist and pant cut. I would stick with this shape because of how flattering it is on a man’s body. Super skinny is NO LONGER IN!, and a box cut looks stuffy and unflattering. Take a look:
As you can see, basic black and white still remains a major trend in men’s suits. But, color pops up in jewel toned dress shirts (white cuffs and collars and all) and ties, and interest is added by layering different fabric textures together. Enjoy!

Speaking as a guy, I would REALLY like it if the European cut in suits went out of style. The roomier American cut is a lot more comfortable and I think the slim cut suits look a little silly, especially if you don’t have 1% body fat.

I agree that the Gucci examples are far to thin, but I do love the color and textures going on there. As mentioned, the ideal cut is one with broader shoulders that narrow and the waist, and slimmer pants. This does not mean a tight/slim fit! Rather that the shape being made is that of an inverted triangle.

So hot. I agree that a broader man can’t pull it off as easily, but for the man who can wear it – HOT!!
