They evoke these stereotypical National Geographic-style images of African/Southeast Asian women in head-wraps, dashikis, neck rings etc... I don't know, not to say I don't love the prints and patterns these terms are used to describe - I definitely do, but for me the language just feels racist/ignorant on a pretty basic level.
