One of my favorite runway looks (included in my Guide to Spring 2010 eBook!) this spring is Marc Jacobs’ printed shorts. The outfit is a perfect blend of whimsical and chic – a look that can translate well into everyday wear. I particularly love how he balances out showing quite a bit of leg with a high collar (too much of anything is never a winning situation!). That’s why I’ve chosen this look for our Dress For Less edition this week:
Here’s how you can get it for less:
Clockwise from the top left corner: ModCloth Hometown tunic, $39.99; Forever21 elastic studded belt, $6.80; Urban Outfitters Anchor bracelet, $12.00; Forever21 tie down rhinestone bracelets, $10.80; Forever21 thin satin bow band, $1.50; Liz Claiborne Tami ankle wrap sandal, $49.95; Urban Renewal Silky Sailor Shorts, $48.00.
To get this outfit, look for printed shorts, a flowy top, and nautical themed accessories. I chose neutral colored accents to balance out the colorful pieces, keeping it from looking too clown-like. A bow headband adds a touch of femininity. Enjoy!
Is this a look you would try? How do you feel about printed shorts? What do you think of the Marc Jacobs bow…can you rock it in real life (I want to, I’m just not sure how!)? Let me know!

A look-for-less post will always get my attention; that said, I’m pretty much hating the shorts sensation. Way too cutesy for me. There’s cute and then there’s cutesy….

They are definitely hit or misses.

I like this! I actually think your version looks better. The softer colors are perfect for spring, and don’t look so harsh. That anchor bracelet is really fun.

I think your version is 99% better than the other! Maybe following your blog will help me out with the trends. I love clothes, but I never follow trends. I just wear whatever is cute. BUt this blog should help.
Thanks for following and leaving such a sweet comment. hope to hear from you later!

I LOVE this look!! I have invested in a few pairs of high waisted shorts but not printed ones, so I wear a printed top with them instead. But I love the outfits you chose, they’re fabulous!
