Thrift store shopping is a really great way to get inexpensive and unique clothes that also benefits the planet. By giving a new life to a used item, you are cutting down on waste and the energy to process that waste without breaking the bank. It’s also a really fun way to discover some great vintage designer pieces for a fraction of the price. Some of my absolute favorite articles of clothing are some pants from the Salvation Army that I reconstructed into high waisted, long inseam shorts.

This weekend I am taking a trip out to Berkeley, a haven for thrift store shoppers and green advocates alike. Walking up and down Telegraph and it’s various crossroads, one can find little hole-in-the-wall thrift shops filled with some amazing stuff. I encourage you to join in the thrifting experience wherever you are at and leave us comments of some of your favorite thrift stores. To get everyone started, here is a comprehensive directory of stores in your area.
Happy Thrifting!
