The other day I got sucked into a conversation with some friends of mine about a couple that we knew who chose to go au natural when it came to using deodorant. Due to the risk of some deodorant’s possible cancer causing ingredients such as talc, they decided they rather not risk any health issues that could arise (the FDA has claimed that non-asbestiform talc is generally recognized as safe). While I understand their concern, I couldn’t help but consider how unpleasant it was to be around them, especially on a warm summer’s day. There had to be some kind of balance!
That got me to researching out what deodorants are safe, and which are highly hazardous. I used the Cosmetic Database website I posted earlier, and I was able to find some fairly decent products. Here are the top women’s and men’s deodorants with the least amount of dangerous ingredients:
Women:
- Crystal Body Deodorant $3.99

- Florere Deodorant Stick $9.99
- Bubble and Bee Organic Odor Bee Gone Truly Herbal 100% Organic Deodorant $8.95
- Almay Antiperspirant & Deodorant Clear Gel Fragrance Free $3.29
Men:
- Crystal Body Deodorant Stick for Men $3.99

- Bubble and Bee Organic Odor Bee Gone Truly Herbal 100% Organic Deodorant $8.95
- Ban Antiperspirant & Deodorant Original Roll-On Unscented $5.29
- Tom’s of Maine Natural Deodorant Stick $4.39
Here are some of the highest hazard warning deodorants for both men and women:
- Dove Invisible Solid Antiperspirant & Deodorant
- Secret Platinum Antiperspirant & Deodorant Invisible Gel Powder Fresh Scent
- Right Guard Sport Deodorant
- Gillette 3X Antiperspirant & Deodorant Power Beads Clear Gel Cool Wave
- Lady Speed Stick Antiperspirant & deodorant Gel, Powder Fresh
These are just a few examples of both low and high risk deodorants. I advise you to research out what brand you are using now, and consider making a switch to one of the suggested brands. Many of these can be purchased at your local drugstore, or at www.drugstore.com.

Great information! My antiperspirant has terrible ingredients in it but I was afraid to stop using it. At least now I can get one with the least amount of bad ingredients. Thanks
