For someone who hasn’t had the privilege of travelling outside of the United States (I know, I know, I recently got over my hate of flying, so this will soon change I promise), I love getting tastes of different cultures through street style images. I thought I’d start collecting some of these photos for inspiration and figured I’d share them with you along the way! First up we will travel to the city streets of Japan (some from Harajuku and some from Shibuya). I love the eclectic, haphazard, yet well put together outfits these trendy urbanites wear (my Dad is Japanese, maybe that’s where my mix-matching comes from?). Enjoy! (all images from style-arena.jp)
I love how easy they make layering look – somehow it’s never too much or overly styled. とても かわいいですね?
Are you a fan of Japanese street style? Are you daring enough to try some of these looks? Let me know!

I feel like most posts on Japanese street style only show the outfits that are totally out there. Thanks for showing some wearable creativity!

I know what you mean, I want people to appreciate Japanese style, not just gawk at it lol.

I love Japanese street fashion! I loved it before we event went to Japan. Definitely saw some cool looks over there but I also saw a lot of american-looking fashion, too.

A lot of people think Japanese fashion equates anime spikes and school girl outfits…I wanted to show them how like you said, it’s not so “out there” it’s actually very sophisticated!

I lived in Japan for 3 1/2 years and miss it so much. The girls there really do have great fashion sense.

That must have been an amazing experience! My dad grew up in Okinawa, and then went to the mainland for high school

Most of these are actually quite subdued compared to most Japanese street fashion photos I’ve seen
but I agree, the fashion over there is incredible. I was born in Osaka and have never been back, but I would love to, if only to eat the food and stalk the superb styling! Hehe.
